Being Lutheran
Being “Lutheran?” The Lutheran Reformation – 505 years and counting! I am always amazed when people ask, “Lutheran, is that cult?” Especially when you consider there are more than 80 million Lutherans in the world today. Lutherans live in Europe (the largest number in Germany), Nordic and Baltic countries, Asia, Africa (Tanzania and Ethiopia, Nigeria), and South America (mainly in Brazil), with the United States accounting for the largest number. The Lutheran Church is 80 million worldwide, and our branch,…

Ash Wednesday Worship & Dinner
Ash Wednesday is March 2, 2022 It was nearing the end of the three years of following Jesus. They had headed north of the Sea of Galilee, on the road to Caesarea Philippi, headed for the Mount of Transfiguration. “When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” Matthew 16:15 (NIV) The question was a turning point. After today, Jesus would reveal in clear terms what lay…
The end of ‘comfortable’ Christianity
(LCMS/Erik M. Lunsford) Re-posted from the Lutheran Reporter By Matthew C. Harrison The church is not, and never has been, a country club — though in the last century, especially in North America, it might have been confused for one. There was a time you could conduct personal business after the voters’ meeting, unofficially govern the affairs of the city from the church parking lot and use your Sunday morning bulletin to get a discount at the local buffet. Pastors…

coffee hour is back!
The Coffee Half-hour is returning to Sunday mornings. If seven days without worship makes one weak, what does more than a year without coffee and goodies on a Sunday morning you make you? I don’t know but I, for one, am glad it’s back. Our special thanks to Adelle Bowen for her willingness and readiness. The good news is: it is back and on Mother’s Day! The better news is volunteers are needed. If it is worth having back, then…
