Baptism at Faith

Baptism

At Faith we love baptisms. Whether you want to be baptized or you want your child to be baptized, we’d love to talk with you about baptism. We offer a great class to talk about how the Bible describes God’s gift of grace through baptism.

“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off …”     Acts 2:38-39

Baptism Class

Our time together is designed to help you prepare for the Baptismal experience. Together, we’ll learn what the Bible teaches about Baptism and have your questions answered.

Faith members and non-members who are having their first child baptized are asked to attend this class before their child’s baptism date.

The Baptism Class is available upon request.

To schedule a baptism contact the church office at (770) 973-8877 or email us.

Baptism FAQ’s

WHY DOES FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH BAPTIZE BABIES?

Children, too, are sinful and need God’s forgiveness. The Bible never says  God’s promises only hold true for adults or for those who are able to understand. Our right standing with God does not depend on our decision to come to Him, but rather on His coming to us.

HOW DO I HAVE MY CHILD BAPTIZED?

Attend a baptismal class if this is your first child being baptized at Faith.

You will be given more information about baptism itself and how to prepare for this sacrament.

With your spouse/family decide on the following:

  • Possible baptism dates and whether the baptism will take place during or after the worship service.
  • Decide which service is most convenient, 8 am or 11 am Sunday.
  • Select Christian sponsors who will mentor your child’s faith development.

Please be sure to call the church office (770-973-8877) to reserve a date and to make sure that the church has all the required information for the baptism.

WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY OF BAPTISM?

You will want to arrive at least 20 minutes before the worship service begins and meet the Pastor and the elder serving in the narthex. The first two rows of seats for your family and guests.

During the service the pastor will welcome your immediate family and sponsors around the baptismal font.

You will receive a certificate and a gift to help your child remember this day. Pictures can be taken after the service.

WHAT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY AFTER THE BAPTISM?

Children need to be taught about their new relationship with Jesus. This is just as important as the baptism itself.

The little seed of faith that has been placed in his heart needs to be watered and fed with God’s Word so it will continue to grow. You as the parents and sponsors hold the God given responsibility to raise your child in the faith.

Having a child helps many new parents realize their own need to “walk the walk” and “talk the talk”.

If this is the case, we are here to help and guide you in your own faith walk.

Our Nursery is available during worship services. Childcare is also available for your young children while you attend a Bible class.

WHAT WE DO AFTER THE BAPTISM?

At your child’s baptism, our church family promises to continue to pray for you and your child as you raise him or her in the faith. Your child will receive a card on the anniversary of the baptism.

At age four, your child is old enough to begin attending our children’s classes created to help him or her learn more about Jesus and His love.
