Celebrating 75 Years

The Florida-Georgia District began in 1948 with 22 congregations; today, we are 192 strong. Less than 45% of the United States is connected to the Body of Christ, and our state’s population continues growing by nearly 2% per year. God is calling us to “Go and make disciples,” and planting new congregations is essential to reach more with God’s love and the only message of hope! Living As Christ’s Witnesses So That All People Come to Faith “For such a…

Being Lutheran

Being “Lutheran?”  The Lutheran Reformation – 505 years and counting! I am always amazed when people ask, “Lutheran, is that cult?” Especially when you consider there are more than 80 million Lutherans in the world today. Lutherans live in Europe (the largest number in Germany), Nordic and Baltic countries, Asia, Africa (Tanzania and Ethiopia, Nigeria), and South America (mainly in Brazil), with the United States accounting for the largest number. The Lutheran Church is 80 million worldwide, and our branch,…

Invite someone to Easter!

You are invited to “Come and See!” ONLY six times in the ENTIRE BIBLE will you encounter the invitation to “come and see?” The first three are in the Old Testament. They are an invitation to see the works and glory of the Lord. Come and see the works of the LORD, the desolations he has brought on the earth. Psalm 46:8 (NIV) Come and see what God has done, how awesome his works in man’s behalf! Psalm 66:5 (NIV)…

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, The violence in Ukraine continues. Those in Ukraine and those fleeing to neighboring countries face great need. Krikava has been working with Bishop Serge Maschewski of the Evangelical Lutheran Church…

From the Florida District, President – Pray and give to the people of Ukraine!

My Brothers and Sisters in Christ, God’s Word calls us to action. “God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it,  so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it” (I Corinthians 12:24-26).   The people of Ukraine are suffering. Some are running for their lives while others…

From the Lutheran Church in the Ukraine, Bishop Serge Maschewski

Ukraine – A meditation from Bishop Serge Maschewski Dear friends, I send some thoughts on Lent from Ukraine. The Word for the week Estomihi, 2022: Luke 18:31–43 “And taking the twelve, he said to them, ‘See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. For he will be delivered over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon. And after flogging him,…

Ash Wednesday Worship & Dinner

Ash Wednesday is March 2, 2022 It was nearing the end of the three years of following Jesus.  They had headed north of the Sea of Galilee, on the road to Caesarea Philippi, headed for the Mount of Transfiguration. “When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” Matthew 16:15 (NIV) The question was a turning point. After today, Jesus would reveal in clear terms what lay…

The end of ‘comfortable’ Christianity

(LCMS/Erik M. Lunsford) Re-posted from the Lutheran Reporter By Matthew C. Harrison The church is not, and never has been, a country club — though in the last century, especially in North America, it might have been confused for one. There was a time you could conduct personal business after the voters’ meeting, unofficially govern the affairs of the city from the church parking lot and use your Sunday morning bulletin to get a discount at the local buffet. Pastors…
