Board of Christian Education

Board of Christian Education

One of the most important ways to connect people to Jesus is through education and that’s the goal of the Board of Christian Education.  Through a wide variety of learning opportunities and events, the board strives to equip individuals to grow spiritually, develop a strong moral compass based on Christian values, and apply their God-given gifts in service to others.

What is the most exciting goal on the horizon that your team is looking forward to tackling?

We are currently developing a Milestones Ministry that is focused on celebrating key transitional moments in a person’s life and is designed to bridge spiritual growth between the congregation and the home. By offering modules or specific events we hope to help families recognize God’s presence in everyday life focusing on milestones like Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Graduation, and other events.

Behind the scenes, we…

  • provide learning opportunities for members of the congregation from infants through adults of all ages
  • organize members of the congregation into small connection groups (big things happen in small groups!)
  • team with the Board of Family Life to organize the meals, events, and learning opportunities for Wednesday Gatherings (happening every Wednesday evening during the school year)
  • arrange a speaker forum for bringing local, state, and national speakers to our campus for special topics of interest
  • host events like Rally Day (coming up on August 30!), new member potlucks, and a variety of receptions for our milestone events
Who’s currently on the team and what unique perspective or background are you looking to add next?

Currently, the board has a director (Muriel Pfaff), 3 Assistant Directors (Martha Smith – Children’s Education, Jon Wareham – Adult Education, Susan Irvin – Connection Groups), 4 board members (Nancy Pietro, Jill Musgrove Karrie Wareham, Christian Henshaw), and advisory member, Pastor Shaun. As we continue to grow, we would love to add individuals to the team who have a background in education and teaching or who have organizational skills for developing our connection groups and milestones ministry.

Besides praying for your board, what’s one practical way our Faith Family can support your board’s mission?
