School Ministry Board

What is a recent “big win” or project that inspired your team?
We are incredibly inspired by our school’s ongoing transition toward a Classical Lutheran Education model. It is a beautiful, intentional approach to learning that roots our students in truth, goodness, and beauty, and seeing the faculty and leadership rally behind this vision has been fantastic and inspiring to say the least.
What is the most exciting goal on the horizon that your team is looking forward to tackling?
We have a unique opportunity to redefine how families interface with the school in PTL. We want to transform it into a vibrant community hub that offers real value to our families and makes it incredibly easy for parents to get involved in bite-sized, meaningful ways.
Who’s currently on the team and what unique perspective or background are you looking to add next?
Currently, the SMB has a director (Steven Bass), 5 active members (Sandra Skrabanek, Byron Pietro, Amy Myer, Julie Dean, and Paris Brown), and 2 advisory members (Headmaster Chris Bradshaw and Pastor Shaun). As we continue to grow and evolve, we would love to add individuals to the team who have a background or a strong passion for classical education, organizational governance, or community outreach.
What’s one thing about your board’s work that people might be surprised to learn happens behind the scenes?
People might be surprised by how much time we spend mapping out the long-term, structural health of the ministry. From following up on accreditation initiatives with the Headmaster and Pastor to designing tuition, fees, and scholarship schedules to ensure a Lutheran education remains accessible, there’s a lot to do!
Besides praying for your board, what’s one practical way our Faith Family can support your board’s mission?
Show up and invite others! We have an upcoming Classical Education Night on Tuesday, July 14th at 5:00pm in the sanctuary. It’s a completely screen-free, one-hour event with activities provided for the kids. Also, August 1st at 10:00am is the Faith School Blessing, a church/school-wide family event! Coming out to learn about the school’s direction (and bringing a neighbor or friend with you) and being part of the school blessing is the best way to support our mission of connecting families to Jesus.
