LHM float wins award at Rose Parade
For 72 years, Lutheran Hour Ministries (LHM) has entered a float in the annual Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif. This year, the LHM float — titled “A New Day with Jesus” — was awarded the Tournament of Roses Director Award. The parade, usually held on Jan. 1, was moved to Jan. 2 this year in keeping with the tradition of not holding it on a Sunday so as not to interfere with worship services. It was only the…
My bank sent this note to me!
I don’t endorse many things to our Faith Family, but here is my first endorsement ever. Lutheran Federal Credit Union. I love my Lutheran Credit union. If you have thought about changing your bank or credit union, I give LCFU a TWO thumbs up. They are great to work with. They are a credit union, which means they have “live” local banking wherever you live. They are primarily an online institution, which means your smartphone, iPad, tablet, computer, and, oh,…

Being Lutheran
Being “Lutheran?” The Lutheran Reformation – 505 years and counting! I am always amazed when people ask, “Lutheran, is that cult?” Especially when you consider there are more than 80 million Lutherans in the world today. Lutherans live in Europe (the largest number in Germany), Nordic and Baltic countries, Asia, Africa (Tanzania and Ethiopia, Nigeria), and South America (mainly in Brazil), with the United States accounting for the largest number. The Lutheran Church is 80 million worldwide, and our branch,…

Was America founded as a Christian nation?
Was America founded as a Christian nation? That is an often-debated question. If we look at ancient Israel, for example, to answer the question, we will discover that our nation was not founded to be Christian. Israel was founded as a nation under God, which the Lord founded with its first citizen Abraham. The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. 2 “I will…
LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison addresses SCOTUS decision
June 24, 2022 “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24). Today is a monumental day, a day on which we simultaneously rejoice, pray, give thanks, lament, repent and weep. The Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade and returned the responsibility for protecting life to the states. “Held: The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is…
Statement from LCMS Life Ministry on the ‘Dobbs v. Jackson’ ruling
Life Ministry of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) applauds the action of the U.S. Supreme Court to correct the egregious and mortal error codified in Roe v. Wade. We now encourage each state government to follow suit by passing and administering laws that protect human life. The people of the LCMS will continue to pray for the government and all in authority, that we might all live peaceful and quiet lives (1 Tim. 2:1–2). We rejoice that the truth of…
